As the crow flies...

Maseru is 8183 miles (13170 km) from Washington, DC, home base for The Maguire Wire.

That is a long way from home!

To put it into perspective, the average person walks about 3 miles an hour.  If you could get there over land, and you started walking right now and never stopped to rest, you would get there on August 10th at about 7:18 local Lesotho time.  It would take you more than 16 weeks.  That is a lot of walking.

Another way to look at it is that the Earth's circumference is 24,901 miles (40,075 km).  The trip to Lesotho is the same as going a third the way around the world.  As Teddy Danger would say,"Holy moly!"

But with things like skype, email, facebook, and blogs, I really don't expect it to feel that far away.
